Mesmo faltando um ano para o fim da primeira década no novo milênio, a versão americana da revista Rolling Stone já se antecipou e elegeu os 100 maiores álbuns do período. Em primeiro lugar ficou "Kid A" (2000), da banda britânica Radiohead. De acordo os gringos, eles são os Beatles da era moderna e esse álbum é o primeiro a mostrar o verdadeiro rock do futuro.

Em termos de textura e estrutura, Kid A, o quarto álbum de Radiohead, abdicou tudo dentro do rock que, para Yorke em particular, cheirava o cansativo e familiar: guitarras ressonantes em uma poderosa arena, e truques de versos, refrãos e pontes nas músicas. [...] O resultado foi o álbum mais estranho de êxito daquele ano, por uma banda balançada para ser os Beatles do rock moderno, seguindo o inovador OK Computer. De fato, em 10 meses após a entrada do século, Radiohead havia feito o melhor álbum da década - reconstruindo o próprio rock, com um novo jogo básico e uma humanidade sombria, mas potente.

Fiquei surpreso ao vê o primeiro álbum do Franz Ferdinand apenas em 72°. Injustiça, os caras revolucionaram o indie rock! Da mesma forma com "Viva La Vida" do Coldplay (leia a resenha), que ficou na longínqua 85ª posição. E com todo respeito ao Radiohead, mas o melhor álbum da década é "Modern Times", do Bob Dylan.
